“…invaluable!”
“My daughter truly looks forward to her Thursday evening tutoring sessions with Rachael! Over the past few months, Rachael has gotten to know what engages her most and turns topics into a game or challenge, which is my daughter’s love language.
She’s extremely patient and organized and gives me a quick update on her progress each session. I’ve even done quick phone calls with Rachael before my daughter’s tests or meetings with the school to make sure we’re all on the same page. She’s helped coach me on what to ask for which is invaluable!”

“I’m thankful to have found someone who is just as invested as we are in helping our daughter succeed.”
“My daughter is really enjoying the one-on-one tutoring Rachael provides (she looks forward to it every week!) and it’s already making a difference after just a month or so. I’m thankful to have found someone who is just as invested as we are in helping our daughter succeed.”

“So many others have tried and failed…”
“We hired Rachael to tutor my 10 y/o daughter, S, who has been struggling in school. So many others have tried and failed (including IEP teachers) to get through to S, however Rachael’s calm but fun demeanor met my daughter right where she needed to be. Rachael was able to quickly identify S’s weakness and how to help her through them. After only 4 weeks or so of tutoring , S got an A- on a math test. We couldn’t be happier with the extra support Rachael has brought to S’s school experience.”

“[Rachael] had been [my daughter’s] consistent champion for her self belief.”
“Rachael was not only the person to teach her the skills she needed in Math but most importantly had been her consistent champion for her self belief. This has translated into all of her academics and she is now performing to the highest grades. Rachael is a gem. Her patience and methods work.”

About Ms. Rachael
I absolutely love teaching, especially one-on-one or in small groups. I truly feel like this is what I was born to do! I am passionate about fostering confidence, making learning enjoyable, and helping students thrive—both academically and in life.
I offer reading, writing, test prep, and English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring for all ages, both online and in person. I also provide math tutoring for TK through 7th grade.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies and Psychology from Emory University, followed by a master’s degree in Early Childhood and Special Education from NYU. I also hold a California Multi-Subject Teaching Credential. Over the past 22 years, I’ve worked with children in various educational settings, including public schools, after-school programs, and private tutoring.
After earning my degrees, I taught in public schools for eight years, working in both general education and special education classrooms. Throughout my career, I also took on many tutoring roles, which deepened my love for personalized instruction.
However, I soon realized that the traditional classroom setting was not allowing me to teach the way I truly wanted. With 22 students of varying learning styles and abilities, I felt restricted by scripted lesson plans and rigid curriculums. I was expected to move on to the next topic—even when some students hadn’t yet grasped the previous one. It didn’t sit right with me.
When I had my second child in 2018, I decided to take time off to focus on my family. Then, in 2022, I launched Happy Minds Tutoring—and I couldn’t be happier!
I love the one-on-one connection that tutoring allows. I take the time to understand each student’s learning style, meet them where they are, and adapt my teaching to fit their needs. If a concept isn’t clicking, I find a new way to teach it. I incorporate fun activities, movement, and breaks as needed—because learning should feel engaging, not frustrating. Whether we’re working outdoors, at the library, or in a cozy spot at home, I create an environment where students feel comfortable and confident.
More than anything, I want my students to know that they are amazing just as they are. I foster a growth mindset, encouraging them to recognize their progress and celebrate their hard work. Over time, we build stamina, determination, and resilience—but I also remind them that some days require more patience and flexibility with ourselves, and that’s okay!
I deeply value feedback from both students and parents, and I am always adapting to best support each child. I can’t wait to get to know your family and build a connection that helps your child thrive. I look forward to hearing from you!
